Create a Custom Lesson

Hello Partners, follow these steps to create your own custom Close Reading & Writing lesson inside the ThinkCERCA platform.

1. Navigate to the Library and select the “Custom Lessons” tab.
2. Click on the + icon to start the lesson creation.
3. Enter your title and writing prompt for the lesson.
4. Leave the toggle on to enable the AI Feedback scan for students or turn it off.
5. Select the appropriate grade level for the rubric that will be attached to the lesson.
6. Paste the text(s) your students will read into the space below. Use the formatting options to add headings and author names. You can add images or hyperlinks in the Reading Selection field in addition to text.
7. Fill in the prompts your students will use for their annotations on the Analyze step.
8. Teachers then have the option of providing scaffolds for students on the Develop and Draft steps. 
9. Add your own custom sentence starters and hints, click the toggle to use the template as is or to edit, or leave blank to skip. 
10. Once you have completed all required fields, select “Save” to create your Custom Lesson.
