Set-Up ThinkCERCA's Safe Browser for Assessments

Understand the lockdown browser options for ThinkCERCA assessments.

If your district or school is administering professionally scored benchmark assessments, it is important to know your assessment window and confirm your security settings in advance. ThinkCERCA supports two safe browser approaches depending on the devices in your building(s).

If using the lockdown browser option with Windows, MacOS and iOS:

Lockdown Browser – Safe Exam Browser (SEB)
Below are the steps for using the Lockdown Browser option with the benchmarks:

Step 1 – Install SEB on Student Devices
We recommend completing installation at least one week in advance. The district administrator will need to download the SEB application to all devices students will use for the benchmark.

Step 2 – Share the ThinkCERCA SEB File
Download the generic ThinkCERCA SEB file here. This file limits students to ThinkCERCA and directs them to the ThinkCERCA login page.

Step 3 – Launch SEB
Students open the generic SEB file, which will automatically launch the SEB application and open ThinkCERCA in the secure browser.

Step 4 – Log In
Students will select Log in with Clever.

Step 5 – Open the Benchmark
Once logged in, students will be taken to their ThinkCERCA Current Assignments tab, where they select the beginning of year benchmark and begin the assessment.

If using the lockdown browser option with ChromeOS Kiosk Mode for Chromebooks:

Lockdown Browser – Chromebook Kiosk Mode
Below are the steps for using the Lockdown Browser option with the benchmarks:

Step 1 – Configure ThinkCERCA as Kiosk App
We recommend completing this at least one week in advance. The district administrator will need to configure ThinkCERCA as a managed Kiosk App through the Google Admin Console on all Chromebooks students will use for the benchmark. The ThinkCERCA kiosk App will appear on the chromebook login screen.

Step 2 – Students Launch ThinkCERCA
Students will select the ThinkCERCA kiosk app from the Chromebook login screen.

Step 3 – Students Log In to ThinkCERCA
Students will log in using Sign in with Google ID (this is tied to their Classlink account).

Step 4 – Open the Benchmark
Once logged in, students will be taken to their ThinkCERCA Current Assignments tab, where they select the beginning of year benchmark and begin the assessment. f
