ThinkCERCA’s Lesson Types

Hello Partners, all of ThinkCERCA’s content is delivered through one of our four lesson types. This allows for consistency in terminology, process, and pedagogy across grade levels and across content areas.

Close Reading & Writing Lessons

Close Reading & Writing Lessons ask students to use close reading strategies and build formal arguments around a given text. Each lesson includes our proven, multi-step framework for writing that builds critical 21st century skills.

Direct Instruction

Direct Instruction lessons are expert introductions to standards-aligned skills and concepts. They are presented in a slideshow-style format that can be used to teach the skill whole-class as explicit instruction or be assigned to individual students. Each Direct Instruction ends in a five-question, standards-based multiple choice quiz to check for understanding on the skill.
