Simulate a real testing environment: Maintain a quiet environment, and use this assessment as practice for other testing situations.
While the ThinkCERCA benchmark assessment is not a high-stakes test, we hope to gather an accurate picture of students' strengths and needs through this assessment, and students should be prepared to take it seriously.
Tell students what to expect.
Once students begin the benchmark, they’ll see a reading section, multiple-choice questions, and a space for final writing.
Make sure students are aware:
They can highlight text in the passage while reading.
During the writing stage, they can click “Read” to go back to their highlighted passage as needed.
Students can close the benchmark assessment without submitting and come back to it if you allow them to do so.
Unlock/Lock the assessment & monitor student progress. You can keep an eye on students’ submission progress and scores in your Assessments and Reports tabs inside ThinkCERCA!
Click on the Assessments tab and select Benchmark Evaluation Services to unlock, lock, and monitor students’ assessments. Here is a video of those clicks.
Click on the Reports tab and select Benchmark Writing Assessment. View your students’ data by using the top right dropdown to select classes.
Please do your best to ensure students do not submit without writing anything. You can have students check with you before submitting their work.
If there is an extenuating circumstance and you need a student’s work reset or returned for revision, you may do so within the Assessments tab. Please reach out to your building or district point of contact if you wish to do this and do not have access.
For urgent matters, you can also submit a help desk ticket on our website. Please select the category "Benchmark Evaluation Services" (pictured below) when you submit your help request.
